Tending to our sacred center.
Employing the principles of Japanese-style acupuncture and Maya abdominal therapy, we deliver comprehensive treatments designed to enhance the circulation of blood, lymph, and qi throughout the entire body. Our specialized abdominal therapy focuses on harmonizing the body's energy, alleviating stagnation, and supporting the functional integrity of the organs.
Comprehensive Treatment Plans
Japanese Acupuncture
Japanese Meridian Therapy utilizes the five elements (fire, wood, water, metal, and earth) to strengthen any deficiencies and balance any excess in the body.
Maya Abdominal Therapy
Addresses the position and health of pelvic and abdominal organs and improves organ function by releasing physical and emotional congestion from the abdomen.
Moxabustion
Moxibustion is a form of heat therapy in which mugwort leaves are burned near the surface of the skin to stimulate acupuncture points.
Nutritional and Herbal Support
We offer guidance as needed by combining Rainforest Remedies (an herbal line sourced from the rainforests in Belize) with Standard Process (an organic farm in Wisconsin).
Meet your practitioner
Lindsey Marie Shel (Chel) L.Ac.
Lindsey has worked with females of all ages providing bodywork and alternative healthcare since 2011. She is a Certified Arvigo Practitioner, specializing in the Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy, Supporting Pregnancy and Spiritual Healing. Lindsey is a licensed acupuncturist and has completed a 3,000+ hour program of study in Kototama Life Medicine, a style of Japanese acupuncture which has been passed down from generation to generation through clinical apprenticeship.
After several years of practicing hands-on bodywork within the context of Arvigo Therapy, Lindsey found herself drawn to acupuncture because it provided a full system of medicine which encompassed many traditional methods for both diagnosis and treatment. Both lineages in which Lindsey has studied, Arvigo Therapy and Kototama Life Medicine, have a rich history and are grounded in decades-long apprenticeships with traditional healers. This has provided Lindsey with an expansive understanding of how to best bring people back into harmony with themselves and their environment.
Lindsey enjoys working with females throughout all stages of life, from the beginning of menses to menopause. She is captivated by the transformations that women make throughout their life as each new stage offers great insight, unexplored opportunities and life-giving challenges. She finds the witnessing of these movements to be of great importance for her own growth as a woman and uses each encounter to offer better, more compassionate care for herself and her clients.
FAQ
What can I expect at my session?
Your first session is 90 minutes and will include a thorough intake, and an hour on the table. I will give you the room to get undressed (to your level of your comfortability) and you will be draped by a sheet during the entire session. I will then take a pulse reading in both your wrists and in your neck. From there I will place acupuncture needles in your arms, legs, abdomen and sometimes your back, then I will massage your abdomen. After your abdominal massage, you will have time to rest on the table. When I return to the room, I will remove the needles, and do a bit more needling, then I will teach you how to do the abdominal massage yourself. Finally, to wrap up the session I will do a gentle bodywork on your arms, legs, neck and low back. There will be time after your session for you to ask any questions and for me to offer you any recommendations.
Follow-ups are an hour long and follow a similar flow as the initial (without the intake). Each follow up we will focus on self-care and the goals we outline together in your treatment plan.
What is the price?
The initial session is $175 for 90 minutes and follow-up sessions are $115 for 60 minutes.
How frequently should I come?
The frequency of appointment I recommend depends on a few factors. The first is how your pulses respond to our treatments. I can give you better recommendation at the 2nd treatment because I will have had the opportunity to read your pulses over time and will be able to see how your pulses stay in balance or not.
The next factor is what are your goals? I like to clearly outline these during the consultation or at our first session. If your goal is to conceive or find relief ASAP, then the more frequent sessions the better (usually 1x/week for the 6 weeks, then twice a month, then once a month, then once a season).
The game-changing factor: how committed are you to self-care at home? If you are on-top of your game, then I can see you 1x/month, load you up with self-care information and then you take it from there. I have seen folks take there care into their own hands and work miracles! (This is also how I work with people who live further away and can only come in once in a while.)
If you are like me and need a lot of assistance or desire to receive care more frequently, I certainly offer that as well. Each person is different and what they need in a particular season changes. I get it and I am open to working with you in the way that feels best.
